Today is the 70th anniversary of the UN. It is not
clear how much good the UN has done. Some UN Blue Hemet peacekeeping operations
had limited success. But mainly Washington has used the UN for war, such as the
Korean War and Washington’s Cold War against the Soviet Union. In our time
Washington had UN tanks sent in against Bosnian Serbs during the period that
Washington was dismantling Yugoslavia and Serbia and accusing Serbian leaders,
who tried to defend the integrity of their country against Washington’s
aggression, of “war crimes.”
The UN supported Washington’s sanctions against Iraq
that resulted in the deaths of 500,000 Iraqi children. When asked about it,
Clinton’s Secretary of State said, with typical American heartlessness, that
the deaths of the children were worth it. In 2006 the UN voted sanctions
against Iran for exercising its right as a signatory of the non-proliferation
treaty to develop atomic energy. Washington claimed without any evidence that
Iran was building a nuclear weapon in violation of the non-proliferation
treaty, and this lie was accepted by the UN. Washington’s false claim was
repudiated by all 16 US intelligence agencies and by the International Atomic
Energy Agency inspectors on the ground in Iran, but in the face of the factual
evidence the US government and its presstitute media pressed the claim to the
point that Russia had to intervene and take the matter out of Washington’s
warmonger hands. Russia’s intervention to prevent US military attacks on Iran
and Syria resulted in the demonization of Russia and its president, Vladimir
Putin. “Facts?!, Washington don’t need no stinkin’ facts! We got power!” Today
at the UN Obama asserted America’s over-riding power many times: the strongest
military in the world, the strongest economy in the world.
The UN has done nothing to stop Washington’s invasions
and bombings, illegal under international law, of seven countries or Obama’s
overthrow by coup of democratic governments in Honduras and Ukraine, with more
in the works.
The UN does provide a forum for countries and
populations within countries that are suffering oppression to post
complaints—except, of course, for the Palestinians, who, despite the boundaries
shown on maps and centuries of habitation by Palestinians, are not even
recognized by the UN as a state.

are everywhere visible. We can see the failures in Washington’s wars and in
Washington’s approach to China and Russia.
The visit of Chinese
President Xi Jinping, was scheduled for the week-end following the Pope’s visit
to Washington. Was this Washington’s way of demoting China’s status by having
its president play second fiddle to the Pope? The President of China is here
for week-end news coverage? Why didn’t Obama just tell him to go to hell?
incompetence and inability to maintain cyber security is being blamed on China.
The day before Xi Jinping’s arrival in Washington, the White House press
secretary warmed up President Jinping’s visit by announcing that Obama might
threaten China with financial sanctions.
And not to miss an
opportunity to threaten or insult the President of China, the US Secretary of
Commerce fired off a warning that the Obama regime was too unhappy with China’s
business practices for the Chinese president to expect a smooth meeting in

Sacramento, CA — In December of 2014, 51-year-old
John Madison Reyes, was attempting to cross the street when he crossed paths
with “hero cop,” Sacramento County sheriff’s Deputy Paul “Scotte” Pfeifer.
Deputy Pfeifer has been hailed by the department
for his heroism in the past. He’s received several awards, including the
department’s highest honor, the Sheriff’s Gold Medal of Valor.
However, along with this sheriff’s heroism comes a
dark history of violence and abuse — specifically using his flashlight as a
means of doling out street justice.
Russia so desperately desires to be part of the
disreputable and collapsing West that Russia is losing its grip on reality.
Despite hard lesson piled upon hard lesson, Russia
cannot give up its hope of being acceptable to the West. The only way
Russia can be acceptable to the West is to accept vassal status.
Russia miscalculated that diplomacy could solve the crisis that Washington
created in Ukraine and placed its hopes on the Minsk Agreement, which has no
Western support whatsoever, neither in Kiev nor in Washington, London, and
Russia can end the Ukraine crisis by simply accepting
the requests of the former Russian territories to reunite with Russia. Once the
breakaway republics are again part of Russia, the crisis is over. Ukraine is
not going to attack Russia.
Russia doesn’t end the crisis, because Russia thinks
it would be provocative and upset Europe. Actually, that is what Russia needs
to do—upset Europe. Russia needs to make Europe aware that being Washington’s
tool against Russia is risky and has costs for Europe.
Instead, Russia shields Europe from the costs that
Washington imposes on Europe and imposes little cost on Europe for acting
against Russia in Washington’s interest. Russia still supplies its declared
enemies, whose air forces fly provocative flights along Russia’s borders, with
the energy to put their war planes into the air.
This is the failure of diplomacy, not its success.
Diplomacy cannot succeed when only one side believes in diplomacy and the other
side believes in force.
Russia needs to understand that diplomacy cannot work
with Washington and its NATO vassals who do not believe in diplomacy, but rely
instead on force. Russia needs to understand that when Washington declares that
Russia is an outlaw state that “does not act in accordance with international
norms,” Washington means that Russia is not following Washington’s orders. By
“international norms,” Washington means Washington’s will. Countries that are
not in compliance with Washington’s will are not acting in accordance with
Washington and only Washington determines “international norms.” America is the “exceptional, indispensable” country. No other country has this rank.
The planned deployment of the latest US nuclear bombs
at the Buchel Air Base in Germany would disrupt the strategic balance of forces
in Europe and could force a reaction from Russia, President Vladimir Putin’s
press secretary has stated.
“It may lead to the destruction of the strategic
balance in Europe. Therefore it would definitely cause Russia to take
corresponding counter-steps and counter-measures in order to restore the
strategic balance and parity,” Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.
“This is another step and unfortunately it is a
very serious step towards increase of tensions on the European continent. Such
actions cannot be described as a step towards stronger trust and greater
stability,” the Russian official added.
Before the West spreads democracy abroad maybe it
could get some for itself. The US is an oligarchy in which government is
answerable to six powerful private interest groups. In Europe governments are
answerable to the EU, Washington, and private bankers and not to their peoples.
In the UK the military brass has declared its hold on the reins of power.
Jeremy Corbyn is the first Labourite to lead the
Labour Party in a long time. Considering the stupidity and immorality of the
Tories, Corbyn could become prime minister of Britain. Should this occur,
Corbyn would shift the budget priorities away from supporting Washington’s wars
toward refurbishing the social welfare state that made life for ordinary
Britishers more secure and less stressful.
A senior serving general of the British army said that
the army would not allow the people to “put a maverick in charge of the
country’s security. The Army just wouldn’t stand for it and would use whatever
means possible, fair or foul, to prevent that.”
In other words, a democratic outcome unacceptable to
the English military will be overthrown. Just like in Egypt.
Here we have the incongruity of Washington and London
bringing democracy to others through what Vladimir Putin calls “airstrike
democracy,” while tolerating a democracy deficit themselves. The safest
conclusion is that democracy is a cloak for an aggressive agenda, not a value
in itself to the US and UK elites, who rule and who intend to continue to rule
these countries for their personal benefit.
Jonathan Cook reports that the use of “whatever means
possible, fair or foul,” against Labour prime ministers who actually stood for
the people rather than for the elites is not unique to Corbyn.
As far as I can tell, not only has democracy departed
the Western world, but also compassion, empathy for others, morality,
integrity, respect for truth, justice, faithfulness, and self-respect. Western
civilization has become a hollow shell. There is nothing left but greed and
coercion and the threat of coercion. When I read—hopefully incorrect
reports—that Russia’s President Putin desires to be a partner of the West, I
wonder why such a powerful country, which has emerged into light out of
darkness, wants to be Satan’s partner. I assume that the reports are untrue or
that Putin is acting in the interest of humankind to defuse the dangerous
situation created by Washington and its NATO sock puppets.
Russia should not forget the courageous speech that
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez gave to the UN on September 20, 2006. Standing
at the podium, Chavez said that on the previous day George W. Bush stood here,
“Satan himself, speaking as if he owned the world. You can still smell the
sulfur.”The purpose of America, Chavez said, is “to preserve the pattern of
domination, exploitation and pillage of the peoples of the world.”
Chavez’s words were too much truth for US politicians.
Nancy Pelosi, the multimillionaire Speaker of the US House of Representatives,
said that such a speech was to be expected from an “everyday thug.”
Elsewhere the response was different. Rafael Correa,
currently President of Ecuador, said that Chavez had insulted Satan, because
although Satan is evil like Washington, he is at least intelligent, and
Washington is completely stupid.

All Republican Presidential Candidates Stand For War
Paul Craig Roberts
There is not a peaceful person among the Republican candidates. Even the female is heartless. Carly Fiorina positioned herself along side the macho men as a warmonger. She let the military/security complex know that she, too, was for sale. Send in the campaign donations, and she will see that the money flows back to the military/security complex in the buildup of fleets and armaments that will send the Russians a message.
Alas, the only message US politicians want to send to the Russians is a war message. The Pentagon has upgraded the newly orchestrated “Russian threat” to “potentially aggressive” and is updating its plans for war with Russia.
What has Russia done to cause Washington to plan war with Russia? Don’t you know? Russia invaded Ukraine, just like Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and al-Qaeda connections.
If Russia invaded Ukraine, how come Ukraine is still there? If weak insignificant Ukraine fought off a Russian invasion, then how is it possible that Russia is a threat?
To deal with the “Russian threat” Washington has sent armed German jet fighters to patrol the skies over the Baltic oligarchies. Washington tells Russia that the fighters are not directed at Russia. So why the fighters? Perhaps they are there to protect the Baltics from Iran like that anti-ballistic missile system Washington placed in Poland to protect Europe from nonexistent Iranian nuclear ICBMs.
In the American police state, you’re either a prisoner
(shackled, controlled, monitored, ordered about, limited in what you can do and
say, your life not your own) or a prison bureaucrat (police officer, judge,
jailer, spy, profiteer, etc.).
Indeed, at a time when we are all viewed as suspects,
there are so many ways in which a person can be branded a criminal for
violating any number of laws, regulations or policies. Even if you haven’t
knowingly violated any laws, there is still a myriad of ways in which you can
run afoul of the police state and end up on the wrong side of a jail cell.
Unfortunately, when you’re a child in the American
police state, life is that much worse.
First he bombed mercilessly, cruelly grinning
throughout. Costumed in a flight suit, he proclaimed a “Mission Accomplished”
after he had, with what they call “bipartisan support” (as though this lends
some sort of legitimacy), destroyed the modern country of Iraq.
George W. Bush destroyed Iraq’s infrastructure, its
institutions, its ruling party and its army. Then he destroyed its social
fabric, which had permitted widespread Sunni-Shiite intermarriage and
religiously integrated neighborhoods.
Bush destroyed the law and order which had permitted
girls to walk to school, heads uncovered, in modern western dress. He destroyed
the freedom of physicians and other professionals to go about their work and
caused masses of them to exit their country. He destroyed neighborhoods whose
residents were forced to flee for their lives. He destroyed the Christian
community, which dropped from 1.5 million in 2001 to perhaps 200,000 a decade
later. He destroyed the prevalent ideology of secularism and ushered in an era
of bitterly contested sectarian rule. He destroyed the right to broadcast rock
‘n roll music, or sell liquor and DVDs.
He destroyed the stability of Anbar province by sowing
the chaos that allowed Abu Musab al-Zarqawi to establish—for the first time—an
al-Qaeda branch in Iraq.
